Our Projects

Other Campaigns

Goal:

Foxglove Project partners with organisations in India, Cambodia and Australia to run campaigns for specific needs and activities that contribute towards the independence and empowerment of women.

In the past, these campaigns have included:

1. Bird’s Nest India

The Challenge
It is estimated that 10,000 people live on the pavements in Chennai. This is not homelessness, but pavement living. It is startling to learn that 75% of pavement dwellers have lived on the streets for 30 years or more.

To support 100 women and families living on the streets of Chennai into affordable secured accommodation in a local slum community.

Foxglove Campaign

Sub goals

  • Advocate for pavement dwellers to access birth certificates, ration cards & seniors card.
  • Enrol children into Government schools with essential school materials.
  • Train women and youth in vocational skills.
  • Provide First Home Starter Kits for families moving into housing.

2. Focus Cambodia

The Challenges
Poor sanitation in Cambodia is common, with up to 80% of people in rural Cambodia having no access to toilets or clean water. This especially affects teenage girls attending school.

In rural Kampot, many young women face pressure to leave school and enter low-paid work due to poverty, limiting their future and reinforcing cycles of inequality.

To improve the education opportunities and conditions for teenage girls in rural Cambodia.

Foxglove Campaigns

Sub goals

  • Build sanitation infrastructure in 6 secondary schools.
  • Encourage family and community support for girls to remain at school.
  • Provide scholarships for higher education and vocational training.

3. Bird’s Nest Australia

The Challenge
When we think of Australia, we don’t think of people being homeless. In fact, we see ownership of the family home as an essential component of the Australian dream. But homelessness – “the condition of lacking safe, stable and functional housing” – is an increasing reality for many Australians.

Over recent years, the fastest growing group facing homelessness is women over the age of 55 (Mission Australia Report 2021). By the time a woman reaches 60, around 34% of single women in Australia live in poverty, with many experiencing housing stress or homelessness.

Foxglove Campaign

To partner with St Bart’s and their current facility, supporting 30 homeless women with temporary accommodation, personal and skills training, and exit support.
